How to Prepare for Your Wedding Photoshoot
A Note From Your Photographers
A Note From Your Photographers
Hi you two lovebirds,
Now that your venue is set and we’ve had our consultation (yay—we’re so aligned!), I wanted to share a few tips to help you feel fully prepped and relaxed on your wedding day. You've done the big planning—this is about the small, thoughtful touches that make your photos truly shine.
1. Prep a Details Box
Before we arrive, gather your flat-lay items into one easy-to-access spot. Think: rings, invitations, vow box, accessories (jewelry, cufflinks, tie, perfume, etc.) and any sentimental items you want captured. Hand them to the coordinator or someone in your wedding party so we can get started as soon as we arrive!
2. Keep Getting-Ready Spaces Tidy and Well-Lit
Choose a spot with as much natural light as possible—it really makes a difference. Ask your crew to keep bags, clothing, and snacks in one corner to keep the background clean and beautiful for those intimate, candid prep shots.

3. Have a Portrait Game Plan
Let your family and wedding party know when and where they need to be for group photos. Assign a “photo wrangler” —someone who and can help gather people quickly. If you have 2 photographers booked, it will be one of us. If not, this could be your day of coordinator, or even a family member who knows who's who.
If there are any last-minute must-have shots or surprise moments planned, just give us a heads-up before the ceremony!
4. Touch-Up Kits Are Your Friend
A little bag with essentials—blotting paper, mints, tissues, hair pins—can be a game-changer. Have your MOH, best man, or another VIP keep it nearby during portraits and key moments.

5. Build In Breathing Room
Even with the best timeline, weddings often run a few minutes behind. Padding a little extra time between major moments will help you stay relaxed and present—and give us more room for spontaneous magic.
6. Golden Hour Magic
If you’re up for it, I always recommend carving out 10–15 minutes during golden hour (just before sunset) for a quick portrait session. The light is soft, dreamy, and romantic—it’s one of the best ways to capture that just-married glow.
7. Be Present With Each Other
This one is the most important: the best photos come when you’re in the moment. Focus on each other, soak it all in, and let yourselves feel all the love and joy. We’ll take care of the rest. Can't wait for your big day!
